The advanced optical microscopy core facility in the new O|2 research building (AO|2M) bundles all high-end 3D- and superresolution microscopy platforms of the VUmc departments of Physiology, Anatomy & Neurosciences and Molecular Cell Biology & Immunology.

AO|2M is embedded in the Amsterdam Cardiovascular Sciences (ACS), Amsterdam Neuroscience (AN) and VUmc Cancer Center Amsterdam (VUmc-CCA) research institutes, has direct collaborations with other high-end microscopy and imaging facilities in the Amsterdam area (e.g. VUmc Imaging Center, LCAM, EMCA and NKI) and participates in multiple advanced microscopy courses.

Our mission and focus is to implement, share and to improve multi-dimensional optical microscopy as well as nanoscopy techniques in translational medical reseach.
